What works for a spouse with dementia? Critical communication for caregivers

New research identifies communication patterns between those with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and their family caregivers. Communication breakdowns may trigger or deepen problem behaviors in care receivers, while ineffective strategies by caregivers actually can add to the household stress level. The researchers' goal is to target those who would benefit from a communication intervention.
